How the FBI pays the KKK to defend the Confederate flag and fight ‘hate groups’
By Nate Thayer
July 13, 2015
At a major demonstration this Saturday “to defend the Confederate flag”, Ku Klux Klan protest organizers will hoist a more controversial flag over the South Carolina state house grounds–the Nazi flag of Hitler’s Germany.
But the KKK Imperial Wizard also wears another hat: Christopher Eugene Barker is currently working as an undercover agent for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation–working for and protected by the U.S. Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).
The North Carolina based Loyal White Knights of the of the Ku Klux Klan (LWK) received permission to hold the protest on July 18. “We will be at the Statehouse in Columbia, S.C., standing up for all who died against federal tyranny,” said the LWK Imperial Wizard Chris Barker.
But Barker, who bills himself head of the “largest Klan in America”, won’t be attending his own rally.
Jeff Schoep, the leader of the largest Nazi party in the United States will be the featured speaker in Barker’s stead this coming Saturday, according to several sources in the Ku Klux Klan, the National Socialist Movement (NSM), and law enforcement sources. Schoep leads the neo Nazi NSM, with chapters in 38 states.
“We were invited by Chris Barker of the Loyal White Knights. We stand with him in defence of American values, ” said NSM spokesman Brian Culpepper in an interview. “The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan and the National Socialist Movement will be in Columbia, South Carolina to protest of the removal of the Confederate Flag. Commander Jeff Schoep will be a featured speaker at the event.”
Barker has been an undercover agent for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) since at least August, 2012, according to FBI documents, sources involved in current legal cases involving terrorism, and the heads of at least six other Ku Klux Klan organizations in the U.S.
In the summer of 2012, Chris Barker was implicated in conspiring to build a nuclear weapon of mass destruction, according to FBI affidavits, U.S. federal court documents, and other sources with intimate knowledge of the case.
It was then that Barker began collaborating with a new member of his KKK Loyal White Knights, who is now in federal custody in New York state, according to FBI records, court documents, and emails exchanged between Barker and the arrested suspect in the nuclear plot.
According to federal court documents and FBI affidavits, a New York man joined Barker’s Loyal White Knights of the KKK in late June of 2012 and “between July and August 2012, sought the assistance of” Barker and “presented his plan to weaponize an industrial strength X-ray system to his Klan group in the hope that his Klan organization would provide him the funding necessary” in a “plan to kill human beings by insidiously poisoning them with lethal doses of radiation….”
In August of 2012, Barker became a paid informant for the FBI.
Barker’s current work on behalf of the U.S. government against terrorism didn’t come about because of Barker’s commitment to law and order.
Barker cut a deal with the cops to stay out of prison.
“The KKK would like to say hail victory to the young warrior in South Carolina, Dylann S. Roof who decided to do what the Bible told him,” Barker said shortly after the South Carolina church shooting. “If we had 10,000 more men like this young man, America would not be in the shape that it is in now.”
Barker was arrested on August 7, 2012 by federal agents on unrelated charges of possession of an automatic weapon by a convicted felon–specifically an automatic machine gun which was stolen from the U.S. army by another member of Barker’s KKK group, according to Forsyth County, North Carolina law enforcement officials and 2 other leaders of Ku Klux Klan groups with direct knowledge of the incident.
Three says later, Barker called the FBI and offered to cooperate. “While sitting in the can, on August 10 he called the FBI and sold the government this ridiculous story about how he had information of a plot with enough explosives in New Jersey to blow up New Jersey and New York together,” said one source with direct knowledge of the FBI JTTF criminal case against a New York man charged with trying to develop and use a nuclear weapon of mass destruction.
“Between July and August 2012, (Glendon Scott Crawford) sought the assistance of a leader” of a “Klan group in North Carolina,” reads a 2013 FBI affidavit. “During this period of time (July through about early August 2012), Crawford, unbeknownst to investigators at the time, received on July 2, 2012, an email from a leader…..located in North Carolina inviting Crawford to a particular Klan rally in July 2012 in Perryville, Maryland and the group’s ‘National Rally’ in August, 2012 in Mt. Airy, North Carolina.”
Barker’s LWK KKK attended a political rally in Maryland and held their annual national rally at those locations and dates, according to LWK’s own records and other KKK sources.
On July 19, 2012, Crawford sent a reply email to the Klan leader identified in the July 2, 2012 email invitation, Chris Barker, and said that he would be unable to attend either “get together, but if possible, may I visit you and share the things I wanted to at the meeting?’,” Crawford asked the Loyal White Knights Imperial Wizard Barker, according to copies of the emails obtained by this reporter.
On July 27, 2012, at 6:55 PM, Crawford emailed undercover FBI agents to “get a hold of (Chris Barker) of the Loyal White Knights, 1-336-xxx-xxxx,” Barker’s home phone number. “The Knights may have the resources to invest and bring the project to fulfillment.”
Three days after Barker was arrested on August 7, he called the FBI from the county jail and told them he wanted to make a deal to avoid going to prison, according to sources directly involved in the criminal case of the building of the nuclear device. “On August 10, 2012, Barker called the FBI–he contacted them, not the other way around–and began his work for the FBI,” said one source familiar with the legal case involving Barker and the creation of a radiation weapon of mass destruction.
Within days, Barker was out of U.S. federal custody and working for the FBI.
Barker is “a CW (confidential witness), who is involved in the second branch of the investigation, (and) is a high-ranking member of the Ku Klux Klan (“KKK”),” reads a FBI affidavit from 2013. “On August 23, 2012, Crawford met with CW (Barker) in a small town in North Carolina and described the radiation emitting device he wanted to acquire. During the conversation, Crawford solicited financial support for acquiring the device, and requested that the CW meet with other KKK groups and officials to solicit them to acquire financial assistance to build his device.”
WHO IS CHRIS BARKER?
Chris Barker is from the small town of Eden, North Carolina, and claims to run the “largest Klan in the U.S.” citing a figure of 10,000 members, but in fact has a handful of active members throughout the U.S., according to several members of his Klan group, leaders of other KKK organizations, law enforcement sources, and independent civil rights analysts.
And Barker’s Ku Klux Klan group is considered a fake “cyber Klan” by many others in the American White Nationalist movement.
The 35-year-old unemployed Loyal White Knights of the KKK ‘Imperial Wizard’–or national leader–, lives in a single wide trailer with is wife, Amanda, who works in a local Wal-Mart, and their two children in rural North Carolina.
Chris Barker’s Loyal White Knights of the KKK barely exists outside the internet and has an estimated real life active membership of no more than 40 people nationwide. The LWK is mainly a product of the internet, where they whip up support from their webpage and accept most anyone as a member in exchange for payment of $120 a year in dues, according to more than a dozen former LWK members and leaders of other KKK groups.
Currently, Barker is wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and prohibited from attending the South Carolina Confederate flag rally because of years of numerous criminal convictions.
Chris Barker has a long history of committing hate crimes, run ins with law enforcement, his wife, other white supremacists, and people in general.
Barker is a chief suspect in a “Hate Crime” investigation by federal and Virginia local law enforcement for desecrating a Jewish synagogue with a Nazi swastika in Danville, Virginia in July, 2011, according to Virginia and federal government law enforcement officials.
Barker’s criminal record, according to law enforcement documents, spans over at least 18 years and includes arrests on at least 20 charges, including numerous felonies. These include possession of a firearm by a felon, forgery, larceny, possession of stolen goods, malicious arson, assault on a female, and at least 5 driving under the influence of alcohol charges.
But Chris Barker has never spent more than a few nights in jail, according to court records.
“If you yourself hate American history we would like to kindly ask you to get out of America!” said Barker this week.
Officials from his home county in North Carolina seem to wish Barker would do the same and leave his North Carolina residence in their jurisdiction.
“We have long been aware of Chris Barker. We have charged Barker over the years with forgery, assault with a deadly weapon, making threats, an arson charge, an assault on a female in 2011 and again in 2014, DWI in 07 and 09 and 04, possession of stolen goods, larceny, two charges of possession of a stolen weapon, and an open container charge last month. And that is just in Rockingham County,” said Craig Blitzer, the Rockingham County, North Carolina District Attorney in an interview.
“We have arrested Barker many times, but as for his Klan, we haven’t seen anyone else but him,” said Lieutenant Richie Jeffries of the Eden, North Carolina police department, the small town where Barker lived until this month. “We don’t know of any other people from here who are members of his group. It is just a website,” said Jeffries.
Chris Barker and other KKK groups
The Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan were created by Chris Barker in April 2012, after he was expelled or left under acrimonious circumstances from at least 4 other Ku Klux Klan groups in the previous year.
After these internecine squabbles between Barker and other Klan groups, including the Virginia-based Rebel Brigade of the Knights of the KKK, the Missouri-based Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK, the West Virginia Original Knight Riders of the KKK, the Alabama-based United Klans of America, the Loyal White Knights of Tennessee, and Virginia-based Virgil’s White Knights of the KKK, Chris Barker formed his own KKK group on the internet.
Barker and his North Carolina headquartered Loyal White Knights of the KKK generate considerable controversy among Klan groups who oppose Barker’s alliance with neo Nazi white supremacist organizations, particularly the National Socialist Movement (NSM).
In fact, most every other White nationalist group has little good to say about Chris Barker.
“The Loyal White Knights don’t actually exist except for on the internet. Barker is a fraud,” said Dan Zimmerman, the Virginia Grand Dragon–or state leader–of a rival klan, the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK. ” I know for a fact they have exactly three members in the state of Virginia–one boy in Farmville, one in Sandston, and one other boy. Barker is not defending Southern or white heritage. He is bringing in Nazi’s, which is not compatible.”
“God said you should always find something good to say about someone, but I don’t think God ever met Chris Barker,” said Bill Barker, the Imperial Wizard of the Virginia based Rebel Brigades of the KKK.
“Barker is a piece of crap. He is a fake and a liar,” said JB Elmore, the Imperial Wizard of the United Knights of Tennessee of the KKK in another interview. “Chris Barker is not a Klansman. I don’t talk to the media. I wouldn’t be talking to you, but you asked me about Barker and I will talk all night about him. He is a drunk and a federal agent.”
“Chris Barker is a drunk, a thief, a liar, and hate filled cowardly lunatic who enlists people to do what he himself doesn’t have the guts to do with his inflammatory public rallies which he doesn’t attend but sits in the comfort of his own home while putting his members in danger,” added the Imperial Wizard of the Tradtionalist American Knights of the KKK, Frank Ancona, whose Klan is headquartered in Missouri. “He is the stereotypical Klansman portrayed by the media. But for Barker, it is all true.”
“Barker has been kicked out of every Klan he has tried to join,” said the Imperial Wizard of Virgil’s White Knights of the KKK. “He is a real problem. We don’t allow him or his Klan to attend any of our events.”
“They are inciting the public over a hot issue to gain publicity and attract paying members over the internet. Chris Barker and the LWK invented himself, a lie built on lies. He has conned the media into believing he is something he is not,” said JB Elmore, of Virgil’s White Knights of the KKK, who was once designated the “most dangerous white separatist in America” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, in an interview. “How many old Klansmen do you think are active members in any Klan anymore? Maybe 3 or 4. There are many old Klansmen turning over in their graves because of Barker and his sort of modern-day fake ‘Mom and Pop’ Klans” said the 53 year-old Elmore. “I can tell you that if I am the most dangerous white nationalist in the U.S., we ought to just close up shop.”
THE LOYAL WHITE KNIGHTS AND THE AMERICAN NAZI PARTY
In November 2012 the Nazi group the National Socialist Movement, praised Barker and their alliance with his KKK group. “NSM members, supporters, and our friends from the Loyal White Knights of the KKK gathered in Charlotte” North Carolina, wrote the NSM Nazi organization and “Thank you and a Salute to the men and ladies from the Loyal White Knights for the solidarity. You are all truly dedicated, and it was an honor to work with The LWK once again.”
Chris Barker’s Loyal White Knights of the KKK (LWK) and the neo Nazi National Socialist Movement have had a long alliance. An investigation shows that the LWK have often flown the Nazi flag emblazoned with the Swastika of Hitler’s Germany during public and private gatherings, including in North Carolina, Atlanta, Kentucky, Texas, Virginia, and Memphis Tennessee over the last 2 years.
In 2014, Paul Mullet, the Ohio leader of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement ordained Barker as a Christian Minister in the ‘Christian Identity’ sect of the Church of Jesus Christ Aryan Nations–a mail order church with a P.O. box in Arkansas that believes Jews are the “spawn of Satan” and non-whites are “mud people” forbidden from entering God’s heaven.
During that entire period, Christopher Eugene Barker has been a paid agent of, and working with, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation Joint Terrorism Task Force (FBI JTTF), according to FBI documents.
In early 2013, the LWK began trumpeting a massive KKK gathering in Memphis, Tennessee. “It’s going to be thousands of Klansmen from the whole United States coming to Memphis,” said Edward Beasley, identified as the LWK ‘Exalted Cyclops’ in Memphis.
An “Exalted Cyclops” is Klan speak for head of a local chapter organization.
As it happened, less than 50 people showed up, with the most prominent presence the neo Nazi NSM.
Shortly afterwards, the media savvy LWK held a rally, attended by nearly 40, in rural West Virginia and invited a camera crew from the British Barcroft Films.
“We’re looking at something a little different for probably the next couple of years, trying to get our men and women ready for the upcoming battle that we’re about to take upon us. And this is something that no Klan has ever done, and we’re going to start it,” said Barker last year. ” All our boys are finally coming back home from the military, which is good. And we’re getting a lot more military members joining…We’re going to try to move in another direction with the Loyal White Knights, and that is starting armed training, hand-to-hand combat, and stuff like that, just for the upcoming battle.”
CHRIS BARKER’S CRIMINAL HISTORY
On Christmas eve, 2008, Barker was arrested for malicious arson for trying to burn the house down of Tony Davis of Eden, N.C. and held on $100,000 bond at the Rockingham County jail, according to documents and the Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s office in an interview.
Imperial Wizard Barker accused Mr. Davis of having an affair with his wife, Amanda Barker–the Loyal White Knights of the KKK number two–and burned Davis’s house down with petroleum an accelerant, according to the Rockingham, North Carolina Fire Marshal in an interview.
“We found his electronic discount card–the kind you swipe at the cash register at Wal-Mart each time you buy something–at the fire scene, which traced back to Barker,” said Rockingham County Fire Marshall Robert Cardwell in an interview. “When we went to talk to him, he was so drunk we couldn’t understand half of what he was saying. He was drinking beer through the whole interview.”
The Fire Marshall said that Barker accused the man who lived in the house of having an affair with his wife. ” I think Mr. Barker has a problem with alcohol,” he said.
The charges were dismissed in April of 2009 after “the prosecuting witness failed to appear”, according to the Rockingham County Court clerk, who noted in an interview that the “prosecuting witness had pending charges against him”. The resident of the home, Tony Davis, is a career criminal now incarcerated in Florida.
Barker has been convicted several times for driving while drunk. Last month, in June of 2015, he plead guilty to alcohol related charges–at least his 6th alcohol related arrest.
In 2011, Barker was charged with assault on his wife, Amanda Barker, but those charges, too, were dismissed “when the prosecuting witness failed to appear.,” said the Rockingham County court clerk in an interview,. She added that the “prosecutor asked for a motion of continuance, but it was denied by the judge so the charges were dropped.”
“Both Amanda and Chris fired guns at each other inside their trailer,” said one KKK leader. “Amanda then called the cops.” But she didn’t show up in court. In 2014, Amanda Barker file another charge of “assault against a female” against her husband, according to the Rockingham County District Attorney, Craig Blitzer in an interview.
Chris Barker has also been arrested at least twice for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a federal charge that carries a ten-year jail sentence.
But several other Ku Klux Klan leaders, former members of the LWK, law enforcement sources, and others with direct knowledge of Barker’s work on behalf of U.S. federal law enforcement authorities, have long contended that Barker has been an informant for the U.S FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Barker was arrested on August 7, 2012 by U.S. federal law enforcement authorities, and jailed in Forsyth County, North Carolina. There are no official court records for what he was charged with in North Carolina, only confirmation he was being held as a “Federal Inmate.”
But federal and local law enforcement and Ku Klux Klan sources say Barker was charged under federal laws for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In 2012, the average sentence length for offenders convicted under this charge were sentenced to 180 months–or 15 years–in prison.
If an offender has three prior felony convictions–which Mr. Barker had–there is a minimum sentence of 15 years without parole under federal sentencing guidelines.
Chris Barker was released from federal custody after six days. According to sources familiar with the case, Barker contacted the FBI on August 10, 2012, told them he had information that he was willing to share in exchange for a deal to stay out of prison, and was released on August 13, 2012.
“The U.S. Marshall’s Service just brings them in and we hold them. We aren’t given what the details on what charges they have against them,” said a booking clerk at the Forsyth County, North Carolina Detention Center. “What I have on my records just says that Christopher Eugene Barker was arrested on August 7, 2012 and he is listed as a “Federal Inmate”.
THE DEMONSTRATION DEFENDING THE CONFEDERATE FLAG IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
The official applicant to the State of South Carolina who received the permit to demonstrate in front of the South Carolina state house building this upcoming Saturday, July 18, is Chris Barker’s wife, Amanda Barker, “secretary” of the LWK. Amanda Barker runs the LWK website, kkkklan.com.
But in Barker’s place at the South Carolina Confederate flag demonstration will be the LWK Virginia Grand Dragon–state leader–and Imperial Kludd–or national KKK Christian chaplain–James Moore.
Moore is Barker’s chief lieutenant, a 24 year-old, unemployed Nazi sympathizer who lives in a relatives basement near Richmond, Virginia whose real name is not James Moore.
In recent days, dozens of media have interviewed LWK Klan “South Carolina Grand Dragon Robert Jones”, “Imperial Klaitrop James Spears” of the South Carolina LWK Klan, “Virginia Grand Dragon James Moore”, who bills himself as the LWK “Imperial Kludd”, or Christian preacher, and Amanda Lee, who claims to be a Klan leader from Gaston, South Carolina.
Dylann Roof is a “young warrior” who was “heading in the right direction; wrong target,” the Charleston, South Carolina Post and Courier newspaper quoted ‘Robert Jones’ saying, who billed himself as the “South Carolina Grand Dragon” for the LWK.
Last week, “Robert Jones, of the Loyal White Knights in North Carolina” told The Daily Beast that his Klan is engaged in a national recruitment drive. “We’re doing this from the East Coast to the West Coast, just to let people know the Klan’s in their community,” Robert Jones, the grand dragon of the hate group they say is based in Pelham, N.C was quoted as saying. “Especially with all the stuff that’s in the news—in South Carolina they’re wanting to take the Confederate flag down.”
To an Illinois newspaper, “Spears declined to say which town in the Realm of South Carolina he operates out of and also would not disclose the location of the Klan’s New Lenox headquarters. ‘It’s a secret,’ he said. ‘We’re the invisible empire. That’s our nickname.'”
James Moore claims to be an ordained Christian Minister and stated that the main purpose of his Klan is to,“spread the message of the God-fearing whites of America, put Bibles back in schools and have 100 percent pure Americanism represented in politics and restore the Constitution back to its original form.”
Jones, Spears, Lee, and Moore defended the mass murder committed by Dylann Roof in a Charleston church on June 17 in dozens of media interviews, and have promised to bring “one to two hundred people” to the South Carolina capital next week to defend the flag symbolic of both white southern heritage and black oppression.
Spears said he “felt sorry for the boy,” speaking of the Charleston, South Carolina church shooter Dylann Roof. “I think he picked the wrong target. A better target for him would have been these gang-bangers, running around rapping, raping and stealing.”
The problem is neither Spears, Jones, Lee, or Moore actually exist.
They are what are widely known among the white nationalist extremist political movement as “cyber Klans” or “pop-up Klans” or “Mom and Pop Klans”–political groups that exist almost exclusively on the internet.
Both ‘Robert Jones’ and ‘James Spears’ are, in truth, the same person—35-year-old Chris ‘Christopher Eugene’ Barker of Eden, North Carolina.
Amanda Lee–Chris Barker’s wife–real name is Amanda Barker and she does not live in the state of South Carolina.
Mr. Moore has his own complicated biography.
First, the 24-year-old is not named James Moore. James Moore is a pseudonym for the unemployed 24-year-old James “J.T” Seay, from Sandston, in Henrico County in southeastern Virginia.
According to other Virginia Klan leaders who have worked with both Moore and the LWK, the Loyal White Knights has only three members in Virginia. “The Virginia chapter of the LWK has exactly three people. One guy in Stanton, Va, one guy in Farmville, and J.T. (James Moore) in Sandston in Henrico County,” said Dan Zimmerman, the head of the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK in Virginia, in an interview this week. That number was confirmed by 2 other officers of two separate Klan groups.
In an interview this week with Fox news radio, James Moore claimed that he is a married, ordained minister with “two beautiful little girls”, and works as a graphic designer. “I am the national chaplain for the Loyal White Knights,” said Moore.
“We of the LWK would like to say ‘Victory to Dylann Roof!’ who decided to do what the bible told him to do,” Moore said in late June.
While he bills himself as all the above, Moore is, in fact, none of these things.
Daniel Zimmerman, an ordained Southern Baptist minister in Virginia who once worked together with Moore in another Klan, the Knights of the Southern Cross of the KKK, and is now with a third Klan group, the Traditionalist American Knights of the KKK, says none of Moore’s claims are true.
Zimmerman said that James Moore was expelled–or banished in Klan speak– from that organization in 2011 because Moore’s then girlfriend was not only bisexual, but sleeping with a black woman.
James Moore joined that KKK faction in 2011, and brought in his then girlfriend as a KKK member of that Klan group. At that time, Moore failed to mention that his then girlfriend was bisexual and, in addition, her lover was black. Both categories are strictly frowned upon by the Ku Klux Klan. “He told me straight out ‘I was hoping this would change her’,” Zimmerman quoted Moore as telling him. ” We banished them both in June of 2011.”
“Martin Luther King was a card-carrying communist as well as a pervert,” said James Moore in a recent interview. “These are all facts and not fiction. This is FBI records.”
Moore soon after, in 2012, joined the Loyal White Knights and has become Chris Barker’s chief lieutenant.
Zimmerman and others in the White Nationalist movement say James Moore, who is 24 years old, pays no rent, is not married, has no children, and doesn’t work. “He is currently dating Amanda Barker’s (the wife of LWK leader Chris Barker) 24 year-old niece. He does not have any children. He just graduated from high school in 2011.”
Moore’s claim that he is an ordained minister “means nothing. It is something he printed out over the computer,” Zimmerman said of Moore’s claim to be a minister.
In fact, according to Moore himself, he received his Christian minister credentials from the neo Nazi Church of Jesus Christ–Aryan Nations, a KKK group who adheres to an obscure interpretation of the bible called ‘Christian Identity’. Christian Identity followers believe that all non-whites are “mud people” and Jews are “the spawn of Satan”.
“He is not an ordained minister under Virginia law. He just sent his money in over the internet and they mailed him a certificate of ordination,” said Zimmerman in an interview from his Virginia home.
“The Ku Klux Klan are un-apologetically committed to the interest and values of the White race!” fliers dropped by James Moore recently in southeast Virginia read. “We are determined to maintain and enrich our cultural and racial heritage! We are growing fast and strong because we have NEVER nor will we ever compromise the truth!”
WHO ARE THE NATIONAL SOCIALIST MOVEMENT?
The Nazi National Socialist Movement has had its own ironic internal scandals.
In July 2006, the NSM co-founder Cliff Herrington’s wife was exposed as the “High Priestess” of the Joy of Satan Ministry, which shared an address with the Tulsa, Okla., NSM chapter. The exposure of Herrington’s wife’s Satanist connections. This fueled a scandal among NSM members who believed in the racist Christian Identity Movement, who interpret the bible as saying Jews are the “spawns of Satan.
Several months later, in late 2006, Bill Hoff, one of the NSM’s most revered leaders died and Hoff’s brother acknowledged that the Hoff family had black ancestors.
Also in 2006, the NSM head Schoep announced that World Knights of the Ku Klux Klan leader Gordon Young had left the Klan and joined the NSM, but within months, Young was charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl in Maryland.
In 2010 it was revealed that NSM leader Jeff Schoep had married a woman with a mixed-race child from a previous marriage. Schoep had deserted his last girlfriend and moved to Detroit. In 1998, he was arrested with the previous girlfriend while aiding a burglary; at the time, the couple’s children were left waiting in a getaway car, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
SOUTH CAROLINA CONFEDERATE FLAG RALLY JULY 18
The contentious debate over what the Confederate flag represents was fueled by the June mass murders in a black church in Charleston, S.C. “We of the LWK of the KKK would like to say ‘Hail Victory! to Dylann Roof, who decided to do what the bible told him,” KKK Imperial Wizard Barker said last week.
“Our government is trying to erase white culture and our heritage right out of the pages of history books. If you’re white and proud, join the crowd,” said Barker.
Instead, taking prominence over both the Stars and Stripes flag of the United States and the Confederate flag at the beleaguered South Carolina state house next week, will be the Nazi flag featuring the Swastika–that of Hitler’s Nazi Germany, the declared enemies of the United States in the deadliest war in U.S history.
Wide media attention from the U.S. and Europe trumpeting the story of an impending backlash over the iconic Confederate flag flying at the South Carolina government building, the Ku Klux Klan may well be a minor player in the event.
“I don’t understand how people go through life with hatred in their heart,” says the KKK Virginia leader Zimmerman. “I guess they are so miserable they want to make other people miserable.”
“Earlier this year, Barker went down to Florida to a gathering of the LWK in that state. “He was wearing an ankle bracelet and was stumbling around berating other LWK members saying the Klan was a big joke. Four people contacted us wanting to leave the LWK and join our Klan because of that. If you have an ankle bracelet, how are you allowed to leave the state in the first place?” said Zimmerman.
Said the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan Imperial Wizard Frank Ancona, whose organization has long been a rival of Barker and his LWK Klan: “To be honest, what they’re doing just makes me want to walk away from the Klan in some ways. It just goes against everything I’ve worked for. The image people are going to have in their mind when they think of the Klan after the South Carolina Confederate flag demonstration is those are a bunch of nut cases.”
“Always remember: If it ain’t white, it ain’t right,” Barker signs off on his current automated website message on the hotline of the Loyal White Knights of the KKK.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this articles said that LWK Imperial Kludd–or preacher–James Moore aka James Seay was dating the 16 year-old niece of Amanda Barker, the wife of the Loyal White Knight’s Imperial Wizard–or national leader–Chris Barker. That is incorrect. Moore’s girlfriend (or wife, according to some) is in fact 24 years old. The author apologizes for the error.
